Chronic Rhinitis

Overview:

Chronic rhinitis is a long-term inflammation of the nasal passages that leads to persistent congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and postnasal drip. Unlike acute rhinitis, which is typically caused by infections, chronic rhinitis can be triggered by allergies (allergic rhinitis), irritants (non-allergic rhinitis), hormonal changes, or certain medications. Many patients experience difficulty breathing through the nose, frequent throat clearing, and an ongoing need for tissues.

Treatments

Medications

Antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal corticosteroids can help reduce inflammation and mucus production.

Saline Irrigation

Regular use of saline nasal sprays or neti pots can help flush out irritants and keep nasal passages clear.

RhinAer Procedure

A minimally invasive, temperature-controlled radiofrequency (RF) treatment that targets the overactive nasal nerves responsible for excessive mucus production. RhinAer is performed in-office and provides long-term relief for chronic rhinitis without the need for incisions or extensive downtime.

Allergy Management

For allergic rhinitis, treatments such as immunotherapy (allergy shots) or lifestyle modifications to reduce exposure to allergens can help control symptoms.
