Nasal Polyps

Overview:

Nasal polyps are soft, noncancerous growths in the lining of the nasal passages or sinuses. They develop due to chronic inflammation from conditions like asthma, allergies, or recurrent sinus infections. Symptoms include persistent nasal congestion, reduced sense of smell, facial pressure, and postnasal drip.

Treatments

Medications

Nasal corticosteroid sprays can shrink polyps and reduce inflammation.

Oral or Injectable Steroids

For larger polyps, short-term steroid use may help.

Surgery (Endoscopic Sinus Surgery)

In cases where polyps obstruct breathing or cause frequent infections, surgery may be needed to remove them.

Ongoing Management

Regular use of nasal sprays and managing allergies can help prevent recurrence.
